What is MIMMS?

MIMMS presents the nature and management of a major incident, focusing on how to deliver the medical support needed to multiple casualties. As the only international standard in major incident medical management, the course is taught and the principles are practised throughout the world, being integrated into civilian and military medical practice.

The course objectives include:

  • Understanding the organisations, structures and roles in managing major incidents and how they work together.
  • Able to prepare for and implement a structured approach when responding to major incidents (CSCATTT).
  • Able to deliver the medical support needed at major incidents, through triage, treatment and transport.

The program comprises online e-modules plus a 2-day face-to-face course.

Am I eligible for this course?

ALSG have designed this course for healthcare professionals and recently broadened it to include those with enhanced basic/first aid skills such as D13 Police Officers, Mountain Rescue casualty carers, and Fire & Rescue Service firefighters.

Pre-course Learning

We’ll send you the course manual and access to the pre-course online learning modules. The pre-course learning is anything from an hour or two to a day depending on your starting point.

Course certificate

You will receive your course certificate directly from the governing body – ALSG. – We will contact you in plenty of time when your requalification is due.
